The song that made SHINee grow
“Juliette”. We were the same for “Replay” and “Love Like Oxygen”. SHINee’s own color came out during “Juliette”. We changed our appearance a little and we were in our 20’s (laugh). I think this song was the chance to perform what fit our age. SHINee is doing what they can do now. I hope people can see it that way.
SHINee in their 20’s
(Referring to his makeup) My eyebrows are getting darker and darker. We've stood on various stages and held concerts throughout the past 6 months. We’ve gathered so much experience that promotions this time around look like they’ll be more fun. I feel a lot more comfortable compared to when we were in our 10’s.
Paris and London
I thought they liked our music, but I had no idea that they would like us. I guess it felt like the tables were turned. I started feeling confident and thought, “So K-pop can be loved by people this far away. We can show our performances here too.”
To be honest
My personality is not that great (laugh). I normally enjoy being quiet. I’m the type to get really angry if people are chatting next to me when I’m trying to concentrate. And I don’t really care about anything else that much but when I sing, I become keen.
Dream performance
What would it feel like to sing at the Roman Colosseum where gladiator battles were held?

“Sherlock” stage
People are first going to say that it’s “powerful”. The performance is packed with not just the song but the dance as well, so it’ll be a lot of fun.
Japanese debut
Our first full Japanese album was released not too long ago. We sang songs from 4 years ago again in Japanese and it felt different. I hope people will listen to “Start” and “To Your Heart” which are tracks only included in the full Japanese album. The whole sound is bright and cool, so it will feel refreshing.
2011 SHINee news
We had a lot of schedules overseas. We went to Europe, Asia, America, and Russia. The performance at Abbey Road in London was the most memorable one. I was proud to sing at the land of pop music and it was new to us as it was a stage to let people know about our Japanese debut. It’s a shame that I was a little hurt though.
Development
Whenever we practice a new dance for our new album or practice for a live performance, I always think “Is this possible? Really?” It was like that for “Lucifer” and for “Juliette”. Even if it seems impossible, we are always growing with the bumps and friction. It’s the same this time around as well. We are trying to start off confidently because this song requires us to.

We want people to look forward to our music after this album, so there are a lot of things we have saved. “Sherlock” is like a “taste of the impact”.
Regarding the popular things
I think popular music is what popular artists do. That’s why “Why is that artist not popular?” doesn’t make any sense. That’s why I always hear “It sounds like it’s extremely popular” as that it sounds the same. Lately in the music industry, it seems people put out the same things and compete over who is better. They work with the best composer and best stylist and they go to the best hair salon. Rather than gaining popularity and not having our own personality, we want to show people the things that only we can do while approaching popularity steadily.
20 year old Taemin
I’m not used to it. We still see him like the first time we saw him, but people around us keep saying that he’s in his 20’s. We first met when Taemin was in his 6th year of elementary school and I was in my 2nd year of middle school. Seeing each other in the process of becoming an adult is odd.
SHINee’s 20’s
I wish we can spend it like Peter Pan. I want us to enjoy the present as much as we can. It's because we learned when we were in our 10’s was. We grew backwards. We started our social life when we were in our 10’s and now we know up to a point of what we should and should not do. From now on is the time to enjoy it!
Comeback
I want to see my close friends from Kara or Beast on music programs, but there’s only honbaes at the broadcast stations now. What do I do? I can’t adjust well to the honbaes greeting me (laugh).
Present self
I am doing really well. I have fun and I work hard. I don’t mean that I’m experiencing different things than others. It’s just that I’m thankful to be able to work hard at my things. I have never once regretted my decision.

Sherlock
Our title track “Sherlock” combined two different tracks and is a way to show a new 3rd product. Of course the original tracks will all be included in the album. It just has this kind of fun attempt. It’s going to be a special album.
Intensive practice
Even if we practice it twice, we’re exhausted. We’re actually shooting the music video tomorrow and I’m worrying a lot because we have to keep dancing for a few hours. If we want it to come out great, we have to work hard even if it’s tiring.
Salamander Guru and The Shadows
Oh Dalsoo, Lee Byungjun, Im Wonhee sunbaenim along with the others have been acting for as long as I’ve been alive. There are so many things that I can learn because I am with them. They point out each and every part that I, acting for the first time, have missed. After filming a scene with Oh Dalsoo sunbaenim, I was so discontent at my part that the director said to shoot it over one more time. I was really thankful!
4 Years
When I debuted, I was scared of the response to my words and actions, so I gave off a quiet impression, I have gradually gotten used to broadcasts and the stage so everything has been more natural for me lately. I feel that my true self is coming out a lot.

20 years old
I think I’m of the age to start taking care of myself on my own now. I have a lot of honbaes now, so I believe I should be a good model. When I meet honbaes at the stations, the feeling will be new.
To the artists in their 10’s
I debuted at a young age and I was nervous because I felt that I wasn’t ready. Instead of staying with the same image, it’s better to show the world you and yourself. I hope you will think positively.
Immortal Song 2
I felt burdened and I was so nervous because a lot of competing singers come out. But because it’s a chance to show the public new sides of myself, I had fun even though it was tiring. If I had to pick a best performance, it would be when I sang Kim Gunmo sunbaenim’s “Wrongful Meeting”.
20’s SHINee
After I became 20, I felt that I became closer with the hyungs. Even though we’re only 3 years apart, there’s still a gap between the 10’s and 20’s. Now that we’re all in our 20’s, I think we can communicate a little more comfortably.
20 year old fantasies
It’s basically the things I couldn’t do when I was underaged. I’ve planned on learning how to drink from the hyungs but I haven’t been able to practice it yet.

"I’m somehow not scared of high places. I don’t really have the fear.
I was so reckless back then. In my neighborhood, there were no trees that I’ve never climbed. Those trees were my playground.

I’m a bit embarrassed to admit this, but I used to ring people’s doorbell and escape from house to house several times, climb the pipe, and play hide-and-seek in the apartment basement.

Even though apartment’s ground and top building are separated, the basement are all connected! Isn’t that amazing? Haha. It was really amazing in my eyes when I was a child. The security ahjusshi always tried to chase us after we finished playing hide-and-seek! However, we didn’t feel intimidated(scared) at all, my friends and I were known as mischievous boys around our neighborhood.

Really, come to think of it, during sport’s day running race, I also have ever won 1st place when i injured my arms. I didn’t care about my injured arm, i just ran as fast as i could.

But in fact, I couldn’t swim, so the biggest incident of this trip was plunging myself to the sea.

Hihi, I’ve never learned how to swim since the beginning, but weirdly, I didn’t feel scared at all while jumping to the sea.

Ah, my other personality is that I’m not really possessive(?)
It’s hard to remember the things I lost, and I also don’t really pay attention to it. I just immediately buy it again when it comes to the things I need, if not, I don’t have to buy it again. So I don’t blame anyone when I lose something. I also don't feel sad for so long about it.

But the only lost thing I still feel sad about is ipod. Ipod that I’ve bought several years ago was now lost, it’s now the only thing that’s on my “to find” list. The ipod that has more than 1000 songs is now lost. I still feel regretful.

I feel regretful because of the content in the ipod which are songs i only listen, Rather than because of the ipod itself.

In my only thought, Sites Beach is the right place to relax. Compared to Barcelona(the city), it’s more quiet and relaxed, spending the day on that ocean in the shining sunlight. It’s a very hesitate moment when we took off our shoes and getting in to the water. It felt like we took a time machine and wanting to go back to our childhood years and we didn’t care of our clothes getting wet after diving into the water and playing around.

After getting out from the water, we made castle in the sandfield, and wrote our name. That’s the dazzling time we can’t grab by our hands, it’s just the time we’re tended to remember for a long time.

But, if i tend to admit in honesty, there’s the thing that I also feel scared of.
It can be grabbed, but can’t be seen, it is a really really new challenge, indeed!
And the other one is, bees. It’s the 2nd thing I feel scared of the most in the world!"
